This happened to me twice and I could not get the cat out. I would go far as contacting the appliance repairs that was near our home just to get it out.
I also had the same experience, this happened 2 days after they shipped our washing machine in our house. I left the machine open to check on my kitchen then my cat jumped into the machine, I find it cute somehow.
The cat sure is created a unique attachment with the laundry machine. I think, even if the owner decided to sell it out the cat would still stick to it. Perhaps that little cutie found a companion in the form of the washing machine.
